Week 9 General Update

Hey everyone, Taj speaking. This is our week 9 general update, time as certainly flown getting to this point already! This week I've worked on redoing our crosshair to match my redesign of the HUD from last week. I based the new crosshair off some designs of crosshairs used in real experiments online which the team is happy with but it seems like this current version may be a bit to small to be readable so it may need some tweaking. I also created most of the remaining buttons needed for all the menus in the game to match the main menu ones I created last week. The big task for this week was creating a looping background for the main menu. Using some of our lab assets I created a scene of the portal in the lab with some basic enviroment around it, but the key part of this is that the portal slowly fades and glows over time while spinning and sparking lightning, forshadowing the future events in the game! Going forward, I have a few minor tasks to polish up and finish off before I start a new project that Kelly will give you the run down on below!

Hi all, Kelly here! Recently, I've been working on something completely out of my field of knowledge - storyboarding. We're planning to have two cutscenes in our game revolving around how Mobility Laboratories becomes the mismatch of dimensions it is, and how everything will return to its original dimensions at the end. So far, I have the storyboards for both of the cutscenes complete, which will guide the way for them to eventually be animated by Taj and implemented into the game by Ronan. They may need some adjustments further down the road but as for now, the team has approved of them so I can't wait to see it get animated soon and I really hope you all like it!

Melissa here, I’ve finished up with modelling assets and creating their textures for the game. The levels are now nearing completion and all the necessary models for them have been done. I have continued working on the construction site level’s mockup and after getting the layout finalised with everyone, blocked it out. This level is now in the game ready to be tested. Hopefully players will enjoy this level as well as all the others that we have made.

Hey, Test lead here. I have completed work on the assets for the level. I am currently working on some more assets for the final level if needed. It has been quite a bit of work, but it has been worth it. I am excited to see how the level turns out. For now, I am waiting for a final version for the game test use, so I could prepare the questionnaires before the test day. Our programmer is currently working on it and would release the game for the game test on Thursday, so I am just waiting for that now. I am excited to see how the game has progressed and what new features have been added or improvement since the last time I saw it. I am also curious to see how well the game performs on the test day. Lastly, I have completed work with Ugly Mirror Entertainment logos, and I am really happy with how it has turned out! It has been a lot of fun working with my team, and I cannot wait to see the final version of the game.

Hey everyone, so we have another test coming up, this time with 3 more levels added!! They certainly haven't been finalised yet, but it's exciting cause it means it's nearing the end of development!! I've recently implemented some enemy movement, where it tracks the players movement along rails once the player is in range. So this adds a new element to the enemies that the player will have to deal with, hopefully making the game more fun. By next post we should have 4 levels finalised, so it certainly is getting close to the finish line!!
