Play Test Deep Dive
Hi, I'm the test lead! This week's deep dive I will be sharing the game tests we had so far this year and some things that I have done. So as test lead, I am responsible for ensuring that testing is taking place throughout the game development process and that the game is meeting the desired quality standards. Also, I need to test the game on every new version of the game and report on the results of testing. I have completed two game tests so far this semester and they have been very successful. The game received a lot of good and bad feedback, but has ended up being very valuable. We have learned a lot from the playtest, and have made some changes to the game in order to make it more effective. The first playtest focused mainly on the new tutorial level because we hope the players can understand the game better by playing the tutorial instead of letting them be confused on the tutorial level. Additionally, there were not many issues but wall run needed to be tweaked and some places needed to be improved. For an example, some floors need to have wall to prevent players fall from the level. The second playtest was more focused on the game levels and how easy it was to navigate. We found that the levels were well designed and easy to follow, but there is definitely something needed to be adjusted. For instance, in some levels, some places' distance may need to be adjusted, so the player can have enough space to land. There were no major issues with the game, but we did have some suggestions that will help us make the game even better. Thank you to those who participated in the playtests, and a special thank you to Steven for trying to break our game. On the other hand, I also work as a 3D modeler on this team. I made assets for the Toy Room level. I am also responsible for making our studio’s logos and I am happy with the final logo design. It represents our studio well and is easy to remember. To sum up, we will have a few more playtests coming up in the future before the PGF. Our aim in the future is obviously to improve the overall game. The game needs to be improved so that players can enjoy playing the game without having any issues.
